Divine Sanctuary Children's Shelter

We are a children’s shelter and learning home dedicated to providing safety, stability, and opportunity for vulnerable children. Today, we care for 37 resident children some orphaned, others experiencing homelessness whom we feed, clothe, mentor, and support through school. Beyond our walls, we also assist over 80 children from nearby impoverished households, extending help as our capacity allows.

Our story began in 2017, when Uncle Lawrnce Nala welcomed three children into his late grandmother’s home. Word of the effort spread, and so did the need. By the time we joined social media after the COVID-19 pandemic, our family had grown to 38 children. What started as a small act of care has become a community anchor grounded in compassion, dignity, and accountability.

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.” Psalm 68:5–6

We run on love and on local ingenuity. Our coffee garden helps sustain daily needs, and we rely on donations and the generosity of neighbors, partners, and friends to keep every child nourished, clothed, and in school. Some of our children are still awaiting sponsorship, and your support can directly provide meals, uniforms, school fees, healthcare, counseling, and mentorship.

Our mission is simple: to give every child in our care the safety to heal, the support to learn, and the confidence to dream.

We believe serving the most vulnerable is serving Christ Himself, and we measure our work by love in action meals shared, lessons learned, and lives restored.

Sanctuary School of Learning

Sanctuary School of Learning opened its doors in 2024 with a simple but powerful mission: to provide a safe, nurturing, and transformative learning environment for children in our community and from our shelter. What began as a vision has quickly grown into a vibrant canter of hope and opportunity.

Through a generous donation, we were able to construct a three-classroom block that now serves 112 children. These learners come from diverse backgrounds many from vulnerable circumstances and our school has become a place where they can learn, grow, and dream without fear.

We currently operate without funding . To keep the school running, children from the surrounding community contribute food in the form of maize flour and beans, or a fee of $12.50 per academic term of three months, Children from our shelter are supported entirely by the school.

Sanctuary School of Learning is driven by passion and commitment. Our team of four dedicated volunteer teachers works tirelessly to ensure that every child receives quality education, individual attention, and emotional care. Together, we strive to build a brighter future one child at a time.

We believe that education is a sanctuary, and through this school, we hope to continue creating a place of safety, dignity, and opportunity for all.
